Gemma is a research analyst working on a range of projects at DMA for both donor organisations and the private sector. She has a specialist interest in private sector development and finance in sub-Saharan Africa, with a specific focus on financial law and regulation.
Gemma holds a Masters in International Development with distinction from the London School of Economics, where her dissertation analysed the political economy of banking regulation in sub-Saharan Africa. She also holds a First Class Honours degree from Durham University in Economics and Politics.
Prior to joining DMA, Gemma worked in Zambia as a project manager for a rural educational charity. She also has experience working in Vietnam, India, France and the Palestinian territories, and speaks intermediate French and basic Arabic.
