First UK–Senegal Investment Forum 3rd November 2011

On 3rd November 2011, at Savoy Place, London, Developing Markets Associates in conjunction with the Embassy of the Republic of Senegal hosted the UK-Senegal Investment Forum 2011.

This landmark event was attended by around 200 delegates including key stakeholders and high level representatives from both the public and private sectors. Atam Sandhu, CEO, Developing Markets Associates, introduced HE Abdou Sourang, Senegalese Ambassador to UK, who gave the conference its opening address.

The conference was further addressed by ministers of the UK Government, HE Henry Bellingham MP, Minister for Africa and Rt Hon Edward Davey, MP, Minister for Employment Relations, Consumer and Postal Affairs and Ministers of the Government of Senegal such as HE Ibrahima Sarr, Minister in charge of Energy and Mr Ousmane Cisse, Director of Mines, Government of Senegal; whilst  from the private sector speeches were given by Martin Horgan, Chief Executive Officer, Toro Gold Ltd and Mr Amadou Hott, CEO, Dangote Capital. Sessions were chaired by HE John Marshall, British Ambassador to Senegal and Professor Paul Collier, CBE, Professor of Economics and Director for the Centre for the Study of African Economies, University of Oxford, and the closing remarks were given by HE Aminata Niane, Minister and Director General, Senegal Investment Promotion Agency (APIX), Government of Senegal and Peter Abbott, Head of West Africa Section, Foreign & Commonwealth Office, (FCO). There then followed a networking lunch.
