Fourth Jamaica–UK Investment Forum 29th March 2012

On 29th March 2012, at Drapers’ Hall, London, Developing Markets Associates in association with JAMPRO (Jamaica Trade Invest) hosted the Fourth Annual Jamaica-UK Investment Forum to coincide with the nation's fiftieth year of independence.

This highly successful event was attended by around 200 delegates including key stakeholders and high level representatives from both the public and private sectors.

Opening addresses were given by Sancia Bennett-Templer, President, JAMPRO; Graham Glover, Deputy High Commissioner, British High Commission to Jamaica; and Joan Edwards, Deputy High Commissioner, Jamaican High Commission. The opening session was chaired by Diane Abbott, MP, Chair, All-Party Parliamentary Group on the British Caribbean and included an inspiring speech on Jamaica's potential and its government's investment drive by Hon Anthony Hylton, Minister of Industry, Investment & Commerce, Government of Jamaica. Further sessions were chaired by Atam Sandhu, Chief Executive, Developing Markets Associates; Mykaell Riley, Director, University of Westminster; and Rosalind, Baroness Howells of St Davids; and included presentations from distinguished speakers such as Nick Cooper, Executive Director, Cable & Wireless Communications; Nick Darrant, Head of Emerging Markets Syndicate, BNP Paribas Securities Corp; Marlene Street–Forest, Chief Executive, Jamaica Stock Exchange; Peter de Bruyne, Director, Blue Mountain Coffee; Leon Isaacs, Managing Director, IAMTN; Claude Duncan, Vice President, JAMPRO; and Christelle Harris, Director of Marketing, Hampden Estate.

The closing remarks were given by Laurence Jones, European Regional Manager, JAMPRO, and there then followed a Gala Drinks Reception in which the attendees were addressed by the esteemed guest speakers, Colin Jackson, CBE, and Levi Roots.
