SMEs: Leading Nigeria into the Next Century

Developing Markets Associates (DMA) hosted the SMEs: Leading Nigeria into the Next Century event on 20th May, 2014, with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and UK Trade & Invest (UKTI). This very successful event attracted well over 150 participants from a wide range of sectors with a keen interest in the growth of SMEs in Nigeria, confirming the growing interest and opportunities available in the country.

The key note speech was made by Connie Price, Country Director of the British Council, who in particular stressed the importance of education. The half-day event was split in to two sessions: Addressing the Challenge of SME Financing and Insights from the Private Sector, both of which had an enthusiastic reception from the high-level representatives from the private sector. The event promoted the value of UKTI’s 100 Project, brought entrepreneurs from across different sectors into the same room to share insights, and showcased examples of success.

The event also featured the support of Diamond Bank and World Remit. Partner organisations for the event included the FCO, UKTI, the Royal African Society, Move Back to Nigeria and Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation.
