The Alternative Agriculture Equipment Trade Show

The Alternative Agriculture Equipment Trade Show

EVENT SUMMARY

On 26th March 2021, the UK’s Department for International Trade (UK DIT) in partnership with DMA, Stanbic IBTC, Oxford group and AgroNigeria hosted the ‘Alternative Agriculture Equipment Trade Show’, a ground-breaking showcase of advanced and affordable machinery from the UK. The event can be watched On Demand and on YouTube

The UK is renowned for its quality and expertise throughout the entire Agriculture value chain, from farm to fork, and it was an avenue for Nigerian businesses to gain access to that capability offer, as a number of competitively priced UK agribusiness specialists exhibited their products & services.

The inaugural event took place virtually, and registration was free and open to small, medium size businesses looking for the most affordable, top quality, state of the art technology and innovation in the agriculture industry.

The ratification of the AfCFTA agreement has presented a huge opportunity for the Nigerian agri-sector and has great potential to boost the general economy if the sector can improve its efficiency and quality.

Furthermore,  it is worthy of note that access to affordable mechanisation and modernisation is a key sustainable development goal of the Nigerian government as it focuses on food security and growth.

'Going by the long history & relationship between Nigeria & UK, this collaboration has been long awaited. Agriculture remain a business and should be treated as such. At this time, what better partners can Nigeria have than the UK to help adopt better agricultural practices and equipment' says Oluwaseyi, Trade Adviser at the Department of International Trade. 'The UK is using this opportunity to present an array of UK companies with great technology, equipment & services across the entire agriculture value chain to Nigeria agriculture stake holder he added'

The event was supported by the Nigeria federal ministry of agriculture & all farmers association of Nigeria.
