Third UK-Jamaica Investment Forum, March 2011
On 17th March 2011, at 51 Buckingham Gate, London, Developing Markets Associates and Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) hosted the UK-Jamaica Investment Forum 2011.
The highly acclaimed event was attended by some 150 delegates whom were given an official welcome by HE Anthony S Johnson, Jamaican High Commissioner to the UK. Opening remarks were made by HE Howard Drake, UK High Commissioner to Jamaica and Hon Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, Chairman, JAMPRO.
Sessions were chaired by Lord Bill Morris of Handsworth, House of Lords and Dianne Abbott, MP, Chair, All-Party Parliamentary Group Jamaica, amongst others. Amongst a list of distinguished speakers, the conference was addressed by senior ministers of the Government of Jamaica, including Hon Karl Samuda, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism and Hon Dr Christopher Tufton, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries; and leading representatives from the business and investment community such as Earl Jarrett, Managing Director JNBS, Miguel Fluxa, Owner of Iberostar, Levi Roots, Entrepreneur, Dr David Lowe,Chairman, Agriculture Investment Corporation and Sancia Bennett Templer, President, JAMPRO.The conference was supported by Blue Mountain Coffee, Development Bank of Jamaica, Grace Foods Ltd, Jamaica National, Urban Development Corporation and Victoria Mutual.
