UK-Overseas Territories Trade & Investment Forum
Developing Markets Associates (DMA), in conjunction with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, hosted the UK-Overseas Territories Trade & Investment Forum at Lancaster House, London, on November 28th 2013.
The event, the first of its kind, was attend by the governments of 12 of the British Overseas Territories as well as around 200 attendees who included high level representatives from donor bodies and the private sector, pension funds, family offices, institutional investors and members of business and investment councils from around the Territories.
The opening address was given by the Right Hon Mark Simmonds MP, Minister for the British Overseas Territories, who was introduced by Atam Sandhu, Chief Executive of DMA, and Master of Ceremonies for the day; there then followed presentations from Naomi Lawton, Consultant, IFC Forum; Stephen Newport, Manager, IMC International; Ruth Kemsley, Senior Engineer, Senergy Ltd; Reza Shaybani, Chairman, British Photovoltaic Association (BPVA); all of whom spoke about the projects they and their compatriots were undertaking in various Territories and the numerous opportunities presenting themselves to potential investors.
Following the presentations, the event took the form of a trade fair, held in the Long Gallery at Lancaster House, in which delegates were invited to meet with the Territory leaders at their stands and discuss their activities in an informal networking environment.
The event was deemed a great success through which excellent contacts were made and real business prospects achieved.
