AIP / British businessmen learn about investment opportunities in Côte d'Ivoire

Abidjan, Feb 06, 2023 (AIP) – A delegation of British businessmen is staying in Côte d'Ivoire to soak up investment opportunities in Côte d'Ivoire, as part of a trade and economic prospecting mission, called "Trade and Investment mission to Côte d'Ivoire".

They had an exchange meeting, Monday, February 6, 2023, at the General Confederation of Enterprises of Côte d'Ivoire (CGECI) in Abidjan-Plateau, with three members of the Ivorian government, namely the ministers in charge of Trade and Industry, Souleymane Diarrassouba, Construction and Town Planning, Bruno Koné and Animal and Fisheries Resources, Sidi Touré, who presented them with the economic assets in Côte d'Ivoire.

The delegation was able to inquire about the dynamism of infrastructure in Côte d'Ivoire, the agricultural sector and its structuring projects, the desire to transform the economy through industrialization, the health policy and the country's ambition to remain the powerhouse of West Africa.

The Minister of Construction, Housing and Urban Planning, Bruno Koné Nabagné said that more than 54% of the Ivorian population live in urban areas and that this life requires significant investment in infrastructure. He stressed that Côte d'Ivoire needs 600,000 homes, roads, electricity, water supply network, sanitation and treatment plants.

His colleague from Animal and Fisheries Resources, Sidi Touré, presented the priority sectors in the field of animal and fisheries resources. He said he was happy to see the interest of British investors in the agriculture sector and revealed that soon an experimental farm will be set up to show what is possible to achieve in the sectors.

When the Minister of Commerce, Industry and the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), Souleymane Diarrassouba, he praised the quality of the cooperation ties between the two countries and presented the products exported by Côte d'Ivoire to the UK and products imported from the UK.

This meeting follows the participation of Côte d'Ivoire in the investment forum called "UK West and Central Africa Investment forum" which was held on October 19 and 20, 2022 in London with a large Ivorian delegation led by the Minister Souleymane Diarrasouba.

The participants in this event were Ivorian institutions including the Center for the Promotion of Investments in Côte d'Ivoire (CEPICI), the Embassy of Côte d'Ivoire in the United Kingdom, the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Côte d'Ivoire , the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d'Ivoire, the CGECI and private investors.
